New Name — Same High Recognition

ACR^® Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence have a new name: ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Centers. The new name celebrates facilities that seek and earn accreditation in all of the ACR breast imaging accreditation programs and modules. It shows they offer a one-stop, quality patient experience.

“Breast cancer detection has evolved significantly over the past 15 years with expansion of the spectrum of imaging options,” said ACR CEO William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, FACR. “The new designation — ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center (CBIC) — reflects that evolution and the capabilities of the CBIC facilities to optimize early and confident diagnosis.”

The new name is more informative and specific for patients, providers and payers that the institution has accomplished high-quality, accreditation-level care and has elected to undergo ongoing self-assessment. It will help attract and retain the best radiologists and technologists while letting your peers know you're operating at the highest professional level. The name also aligns the program with the ACR Designated Lung Cancer Screening Center™ and the ACR Prostate Cancer MRI Designated Center™ programs.
